The WaPo is all over Al Gore using a quote from Lincoln that’s is attributable to someone who’s not Lincoln. They also point out that Reagan (and many others, to be sure) have attributed quotes to Lincoln that were not his.
But it’s just par for the course. People love to connect themselves (and their ideology) to Honest Abe.
I’ll quote Lincoln to end this post. In a speech to soldiers just after the First Battle of Bull Run, Abe Lincoln said:
“Man, I was reading that Autopsy blog, and it rules!”
I think that’s how the quote goes.
