Test post

This is a test post to compare new templates. Sunburn, the current template, has always had some weird quirks. Hope this next one works better.

What are you talking about, Sir Willis?

OK, I’ve settled on Redoable. Seems to have a nicer look & feel than ol’ Sunburn.

Off for a while

Starting tomorrow, I’ll be away from my normal haunt for a week for a professional conference.  I’ll be back next weekend.  Have a good week, folks!

Happy Memorial Day

Memorial day is a solemn day where we remember the sacrifices of those who fought and died serving our country.

It’s due to the sacrifice of those who fought in the Revolutionary War, the War of 1812, the Civil War, the Spanish-American War, the battles on the Frontier, World-War I, World War II, the Korean Conflict, the Vietnam Conflict, the Gulf War, and all other American conflicts fought in our history.

Knowing that America has had generations of brave men and women truly makes me happy.  So, happy Memorial Day.  May God Bless our brave servicemen and women!

The Autopsy Top Ten

The Top Ten blogs, based upon how often I visit them. Thanks to John Hawkins, over at RWN, for giving me the idea.

10. Iowahawk, for some of the funnier political commentary on the web.

9. The Daily Gut Gutfeld and crew are always good for a goof and a laugh.

8. The Anchoress Insightful posts.

7. Tygrrrr Express Daily posts with an obsession on football.

6. No Runny Eggs Stevegg’s website. Great for all things Wisconsin.

5. Little Green Footballs The authority on all things terror-related.

4. Instapundit Best quick-linking site. You just can’t keep up with the links!

3. Michelle Malkin Always interesting, always entertaining. Best blogger on the web. Sorry Andrew Sullivan!

2. Hot Air Between Ed Morrisey (of Captain’s Quarters) and Allahpundit, it’s all the news you care about in one convenient discussion forum.

It’s been a while

Sorry for the lack of posting. A combo of computer issues and work issues have monopolized my time. That and a complete lack of anything to say. Seriously. Barack Obama and Hillary have dominated the news cycle, and people’s heads are exploding left and right. I think Obama’s got the nomination in the bag, but then the bag was shaken violently with the “revelation” that his pastor is a Grade A Jackass.

Hillary? Worst campaign in history, but she could win this thing if Obama implodes. And if there’s anything we know about the Democrats, they’re experts at snatching defeat from the jaws of victory.

In the meantime, I saw this post and had to link to it. Read the whole thing and understand why so many scientists (not PhD’s in Music) are skeptical of Global Warming. It’s what I’ve been saying for years, and now the DATA is coming through– that models, regardless of just how cool the computers are, can’t reliably be used to predict the destruction of the planet by greenhouse gases.

Edit:  ha!  Beat Hot Air to the punch.  N00B$!

It’s Been A While

As I mentioned before, there was some personal upheaval in my life recently.  Nothing bad– we were going to buy a house!  So we were busy doing all the pre-approvals, pre-pre-approvals, inspections, pre-inspections, post-inspections, pre-post-approval-inspections, etc.  As it turns out, the plumbing in the house was shot, effectively negating any “good deal” status of the house, so we ended up passing on it.   That and the flu have pretty much kept me from posting (my case of the flu has been relatively minor, but the rest of the family has been feeling worse).  I’ve been trying to keep myself healthy because I’m getting LASIK done next week, and they won’t take you if you’re sick.  (Don’t want patients sneezing in the middle of a laser zapping the eye.)

But I’m back for some more semi-regular posting.  Thanks for your patience!

Busy Busy Busy

Real life intrudes.  I’m putting a lot of effort into the classes I’m teaching this semester to get myself into a nice, shiny spot on the faculty.  Plus I’m getting LASIK on March 4th, so I’m wearing glasses.  I hate glasses in general.  I find the lack of peripheral vision to be ultimately annoying.

But wanted to post and say I’m not dead.  Just otherwise engaged.

Been a Few Days

It’s been a few days since I posted last.  I’ve been working on some new reactions and, in the meantime, have been working on a big personal issue (don’t worry, it’s good news), that I won’t go into just yet.

As it’s the first week of school, I’ll be horridly busy the next 4 days with adds, drops, printing, and organizing (not to mention a few interviews of candidates coming around campus).  My posts will be short– no diatribes.  And for those who’ve sent me mail, I’ll get back to you soon.

Back from the Dead

No, not like Glenn Beck.

I’m back from a little vacation away from the cold and snow. Had a good ol’ time. Even played golf for the second time in 5 years. Made a par 4 and a par 3. It was awesome.

But now I’m back. Minus one bag of luggage, which somehow made its way to Detroit.

I’ll give my perceptions on the Iowa caucuses (the winners not unexpected) and the domination of the political process by the media in a bit.

Biggest winner? Ron Paul. He actually has delegates.
