Sheldon Drobny Watch: Day… something…

Sheldon’s back. Well, he never left. But he has an interesting blog over at the PuffingTons Host. It’s all about his father, and how his father instilled values in Shel after they left Poland in 1945.

Here’s some of it:

Accordingly, the idea of an after life was never expressed to me by my parents and in my Jewish studies. That is true for most of my generation of Jewish Americans. On the other hand, I observed that many of my Christian friends had an abiding belief of heaven and hell primarily through the teachings of the New Testament.

I could not relate to the teachings of the Jewish scripture in that I personally believed it was written by the people of the period from stories handed down to them through the generations. History has proven that the Hebrew bible sometimes called “Torah” was written during the Babylonian exile of the Jews in the 6th century B.C.E., not by Moses 700 years earlier. My reading of the New Testament makes me equally skeptical of scripture as both a spiritual and historical guide to our lives. However, after the deaths of my mother and father, I began to have a different attitude about spirituality and the tangible experience we call life.

Great stuff. A man does soul searching, trying to find truth and align himself in the cosmic hierarchy.

And what great truth does he find? What does God reveal to Sheldon?

That information was helpful to me in making peace with my mother shortly after she died. I knew she needed me to say the Kaddish prayer for her whether or not I believed it to be meaningful. What I also took away from this is an abiding belief in cosmic justice that gives me a strong sense that those who have lived evil and cruel lives will not escape cosmic justice. The Bush/Cheney cabal and all the evil-doers that preceeded them in my mind are wearing the chains of Marley’s Ghost from Dickens’ A Christmas Carol and are condemned to do so for eternity. And I believe there is no person who will be able to cleanse their eternal souls no matter who says the Kaddish prayer for them.

God hates Bush and all of his followers are condemned to hell. Seriously, folks, you can’t make this stuff up.

Drobny Watch: What About Me?

Drobs is blogging about his award at the Daily Gut.

You know, 35 days of stalker-like watching, and you’d think I’d get at least some recognition.

Something.

Maybe a slot on the new liberal talk-show network.

Because that way I could get job security.

Drobs is Back! And He’s Got a Malloy In His Pocket!

Yes, Sheldon Drobny is back. He’s taken the time to post over at the PuffingTons Host and let everyone know about his new venture into syndicated Progressive talk radio.

What’s interesting is the timing. It’s merely a few days after he pulled out of Air America and let the “Best Thing That Ever Happened to Radio” go belly up. (Although, there is a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy to keep it on the air.)

Technically, Shel didn’t “pull out”. AA imploded even though he had his hand out with a whole wad of cash. Instead, it was forced into bankruptcy by the evil people he mentioned. Even though AA is still on the air (didn’t notice it was gone, didja?) and it is being funded by some illuminati organization.

There is one constant, however. It’s that you can’t scoop Brian Maloney. As always, Radio Equalizer is a fun read, and will keep you up to date with the total insanity plaguing the Air America implosion.

Drobny Watch: Day 26!

So, if you’re a regular reader of the “Radio Equalizer” you already know that you really should get a life.

I kid! Now Maloney is going to put a flaming bag of dog poo on my front porch again.

Seriously, the best place to get breaking radio news is the Radio Equalizer. And, as always, Brain’s got the low-down on the Air America radio fiasco.

Shel’s pulled out, and now AA is filing for bankruptcy. Considering they just had a movie that told everyone how great they were, and Al Franken has his own movie coming out, how can AA be doing so poorly? And how can it be in such financial ruin that looney co-founded Sheldon Drobny won’t rescue it?

Oh that’s right. Vast Right-Wing Conspiracy.

Drobny Watch — Series Finale!

Nothing new from Shel about the Air America “bankruptcy”. We all know it’s going to happen, it’s just a matter of time. So, we’ll put the Drobny Watch in a drawer and wait for something big to happen. In the mean, he can keep skirting the subject on the PuffingTons Host like a good little Chavez liberal.

Drobny Watch– Day Nine!

Where is the Drob-man? Ol’ Shel? The man with the mission? Perhaps he’s filling out loan applications? Or maybe checking the doors on all the charities to see if anyone had carelessly left their safe door open?

Ahmadinejad Watch! Drobny Special Edition!

Drobny Watch has been prempted by…

So our pal Ahmadinejad was at the UN today. He had some choice words for the US. He’s sounding like the Iranian equivalent of William Wallace. “You give us sanctions, but you will never take.. our nuclear weapons program!”

I doubt ol’ Ahmie can shoot lightning out of his arse, tho. But I’m pretty sure he gets into some anti-Semitic rants when he’s drunk. It’ll make the rants he goes into while sober make a Himler blush.

But it looks like any sort of sanctions are going to be sabotage by France. Come on, Chirac. WTF? France’s diplomatic reliability lately sucks. First they propose 2000 troops, then they send 1/10 of that number. France, England and Germany were at the forefront of Iranian negotiations for years. Finally it goes to the UNSC, with the IAEA recommending that the UNSC take action if Iran does not suspend uranium enrichment. Guess what? They’re still enriching uranium. And it’s the middle of September! Oh, did we mention the IAEA’s detection of weapons-grade uranium? It’s all for peaceful use, mind you.

France is looking like they’re going to buckle to Iranian pressure. I can only assume it’s about oil. It’s the only real export Iran has. That and terrorists. And the terrorism market in France is quite bearish.

If you’re Ahmadinejad, you’ve got to be pretty happy. You’re walking around New York like the Toast of the Town (even if your intention is to Toast the Town with a nuke one day). The Arab world sees him as the guy who went to the US, told Bush where to go, and the UN, and then came back to Iran to flowers and sausages. All of his neighbors must be diggin’ his bitchin’ Camaro.

The weakness on Iran underscores the problems we have with the War on Terror in general. The US is the only country that really has great resolve in fighting terrorism (and Australia, too). Resolve in Britain, France, Germany– it’s waning. It’s politically easy to hide behind a diplomats table and then shrug when Ahmie’s got a nuclear roll of quarters in his pocket. But that just puts the entire Middle East in jeopardy. We have to see the threat for what it is.

Drobny Watch- Day VI!

Well, another day, another dodge by Shel about what’s really happening with Air America. His claim to fame was setting up this network. So why not at least feign some interest in what’s happening to the network? Tell us what’s going on. Why isn’t Al Franken getting paid?

But enough of the real stories. Or even the new stories. Shel’s got a new post on the PuffingTons Host where he does what only 2nd season sit-coms do– he has a clip show!

I’ve been blogging for a month now, so that makes me an expert. Sheldon, you don’t repost your stuff. You link to it. Reposting is for comments sections. It’s cheap. It’s an insult to your readers. But then again, you did start Air America, which was pretty much an insult to any of your listeners, too. (”I can listen to Al Franken for 3 hours. Why can’t anyone else?”)

UPDATE: So, I left a message for Sheldon, asking about Air America and its financial woes, but guess what– PuffingTon Host comment moderators have “delayed” it– that is, they leave it in the “unapproved” pile until the post gets two days old, then they post it. Or they may not even post it. Laurie David doesn’t see what I write anymore, either.

UPDATE II: My comment made it, finally. There were 14 posts when I checked last, and 18 posts now (6:00 PM CDT), and four are following my post. So, I’m not imagining things.

Drobny Watch: Day 5

It’s the fifth day of watching the PuffingTons Host, waiting for Sheldon to come out and let us know that Air America was a really, really, really bad business decision.

Alas, he’s mute on anything that’s not moonbattery.

Brian Maloney at the “Radio Equalizer” has noticed that ThinkProgress has issued a retraction of their bankruptcy story. So this begs the question: will I stop Drobny Watch?

My answer: Yes, when I run out of fun sayings to put under that dorky picture. I’m having too much of a good time to stop the ol’ Drobny Watch now.
