Teddy Bear Jihad

I’m sure you’ve been following the story of the schoolteacher from England who was teaching abroad in the Sudan and was imprisoned for naming a teddy bear “Mohammed”.  (Actually, the class voted to name the bear Mohammed.  How that incriminates her, I have no idea.)  There were crowds out calling for her to be killed for insulting the “prophet”.  Well, she’s back home and she’s learned her lesson.  No, not that Islam is a religion of hypersensitive aggressors.  It’s that she should have been more sensitive!  (I wonder what would have happened if the students suggested the teddy bear be named “Mohammed” and she said, “No”?  My guess– riots and beheadings!)

But wait.  We have the moral equivalency of the members of the View.  And to be honest, I’m wondering if these people read the news, because they’re comparing two different events.  If a student names his own teddy bear, nobody’s going to care (Whoopi).  If the class votes to name it Jesus in a public school, then there will be uproar, but not from the people who would think it’s sacrilegious.  If the teacher in the public school named it Jesus, then there’d be a response from the school administration.  But one thing is for sure– nobody would call for the death of the teacher in any case.

Michelle has a great rundown of other items that have caused riotous outrage, from soccer balls to Korans that (weren’t) place in toilets to ice cream.

Can we say that certain places of the world have crazy Islamists yet?

Should Israel Turn Over Land for Peace?

Seems that’s all they’re doing. They just turned over a bunch of Israeli-occupied land in the Gaza Strip to the Palestinians. The result? Rocket attacks on Israel from the Palestinian-occupied areas!

So, why should Israel turn over more neighborhoods, in Jerusalem of all places, to the Palestinians, in exchange for “peace”? There is no peace. Hamas will simply absorb those neighborhoods and fire rockets into Israel.

There’s an old saying. “Fool me once, shame on you. Fool me twice, shame on me. Fool me more than twice, it must be Israel trying to make peace at the behest of the international community with a bunch of terrorists bent on the destruction of Israel.”

I may have added the last part.

A Jihad Against Tennis Players!

Sania Mirza and Shahar Peer are playing women’s doubles at Wimbeldon this year.

It’s not a big deal, unless you’re Islamic Rage Boy.

Sania is a Muslim from India, and Shahar is Israeli. What would normally be hailed as “dream partnership of peace” is instead attacked by the irrational.

The last time Mirza, a Muslim, joined forces with Peer at the 2005 Japan Open, their association was short-lived.

Under pressure from militants furious over a Muslim and a Jew playing together, Mirza called for some time out.

What was the religious affiliation of those militants, I wonder?

Car Bomb Diffused in London

And much loss of life was averted:

LONDON (AP) - Police thwarted an apparent terror attack Friday near the famed Piccadilly Circus in the heart of London, defusing a bomb made of a lethal mix of gasoline, propane gas, and nails after an ambulance crew spotted smoke coming from a silver Mercedes outside a nightclub.

The bomb in the city’s theater district was powerful enough to have caused “significant injury or loss of life” - possibly killing hundreds, British anti-terror police chief Peter Clarke said.

Heads up to the ambulance crew who saw the smoking vehicle. Given this action and the man with the smoking, unexploding backpack from the terror attacks on buses a little while ago, it seems that terrorists in London have problems with their explosives.

But leave it to politicians to totally miss the football:

Britain’s new home secretary, Jacqui Smith called an emergency meeting of top officials, calling the attempted attack “international terrorism.”

“We are currently facing the most serious and sustained threat to our security from international terrorism,” she said afterward. “This reinforces the need for the public to remain vigilant to the threat we face at all times.”

Doesn’t he realize that they’re not international terrorists? These guys are being bred in their own backyard.

The Fatah/Hamas Cease-Fire Continues

In fact, Hamas just captured the Fatah headquarters to keep them from firing!

Not a civil war, no. It’s a cease fire. Don’t forget that.

A Poll That Asks the Wrong Question

Malkin has a poll on her site that the AP is asking American Muslims. (original article)

29% of American Muslims have a favorable view or no opinion of Al Queda.

Shock!

But the question should be posed to the general population, and then broken down into demographics: Republican, Independent, or Democrat.

I think the results would surprise us. Well, at least you.

The BBC: Only the Most Unbiased Programming

Not wanting to upset viewers, the BBC has canceled a movie in the works about Pvt. Johnson Beharry who was awarded the Victoria Cross for heroism. Why did they cancel it? They thought it would be too violent? Too gory? Too tragic?

No. They thought it would be pro-war and it would upset the anti-war moonbats.

Private Johnson Beharry’s courage in rescuing an ambushed foot patrol then, in a second act, saving his vehicle’s crew despite his own terrible injuries earned him a Victoria Cross.

For the BBC, however, his story is “too positive” about the conflict.

The corporation has canceled the commission for a 90-minute drama about Britain’s youngest surviving Victoria Cross hero because it feared it would alienate members of the audience opposed to the war in Iraq.

Yep. Don’t want to upset the anti-war crowd. They might accuse you supporting war and violence and then firebomb your offices.

***************************************

And more from the BBC. A reporter has embedded with the Taliban in order to report about their struggles against NATO in Afghanistan.

It’s interesting as the British are currently in command of the operations in Afghanistan. A reporter is reporting about the enemy, and singing their praises.

There is no army on earth as mobile as the Taleban.

I remember it as their secret weapon when I travelled with them in the mid-1990s, as they swept aside rival mujahideen to take most of the country.

Piled into the back of open Toyota trucks, their vehicle of choice, and carrying no possessions other than their weapons, they can move nimbly.

What a bunch of noble people. You can almost hear him fawning over their leaders. The same people who forced Hindu and Sikhs towear badges so they could distinguish them on sight.

More loving admiration:

The Taleban official spokesman, Mohammed Anif, explained: “When the Islamic movement of the Taleban started in the first place, the main reason was because of concern among people about corruption.

“People were fed up with having to bribe governors, and other authorities.

“We rose up and saved almost the whole country from the evils of corruption and corrupt commanders. That’s why people are supporting the Taleban again now.”

The Taliban– only popular because they are fighting government corruption! What do you want, a government that resists corruption or one that gives women rights? Hand over the Taliban, right, Mr. Loyn?

On civilian casualties:

The intensifying conflict itself also plays into their hands. It is hard for Nato to promote its mission as humanitarian given the inevitable civilian casualties of conflict.

The Taleban deny British claims that hundreds of their soldiers have been killed.

They say that since they wear only the loose long cotton shirts and trousers - shalwar kameez - of any local villager, then the British cannot easily tell them apart.

In a village damaged by a British attack on the night of 7 October, some people were too angry to talk to me because I was British.

Nato sources describe this village as being heavily defended by the Taleban, who fired on their forces throughout the operation.

British soldiers landed in helicopters, arrested a suspect and flew away.

But they left six dead in one family, including three young girls, and partially demolished the mosque.

Thos murdering Brits! Unless, of course, the Taliban were using the tried and true terrorist tactic of firing from Mosques and firing from behind civilian positions. But Loyn won’t report that, will he? He’ll only report what he wants to– that the military forces of his own country are evil, people-grabbing and civilian-killing monsters.

Nothing like having a fair and balanced press corps. Let’s blow up more priceless history. Maybe that will get him to see just how bad the Taliban are.

h/t: LGF for both.

UPDATE: Malkin has a post all about Johnson Beharry. It has a description of how he won the Victoria Cross.

And it looks like the Royal Marines who were held hostage have been given the green light to go out and make as much money as possible to tell their story. Or sell their gifts from Iran on Ebay.

John Tindell, the father of Joe Tindell, another of the hostages, said his son had turned down an offer of £10,000. “The MoD said if you want to earn money you are free to go out and do it. I was a bit surprised. The MoD said to the marines, ‘Go out there, tell the truth and make the money’.”

He claimed the marines were planning to sell on eBay the vases given to them in their “goody bags” by the Iranians.

Great. Now we’ll have British soldiers lining up at the Iranian border, hoping for capture, just so they can get released and sell their story.

Chertoff: The British Are Coming

If it wasn’t bad enough they invaded in 1812 and the mid-60’s….

Chertoff is actually worried about radicalized Muslims in the mosques in England. They’ve largely gone unmolested by the British, who have let Muslim immigrants do whatever they want, including trials.

It’s a disturbing trend. We see it with the “youths” in France. The murder of Van Gogh in Amsterdam. Radical Islam is spreading throughout Europe. Fortunately the worst we have here is Radical Muslims trying to muzzle John Does, although it’s a doorway to the next step of intimidating the populace.

Chertoff is sounding an alarm that is not ringing in the ears of the media over here. The difference between the bombings in London and 9/11 is that the bombers there were homegrown, while 9/11 was conducted by foreigners training on our soil. The English are taking it personal, and their reaction is to extract their vengeance upon rivals of their favorite football team.

Seriously, what is the English response? Nothing. They haven’t taken any visible steps to prevent this other than to install cameras which yell at you when you litter.

And now that the Radicalized Muslims have a foothold in England, we have to wonder if it’s going to be a launching point for attacks against American interests, or if it’s going to be a gateway for extremists into the country.

At least Chertoff is watching what he’s supposed to be watching.

Flying in the Face of the Flying Imams

Congress has laid the smackdown on the Flying Imams. Certainly seems like they’re on their way to glorious defeat.

I’ll grant them this much– it was a clever plan. Expose the John Does, expose the whistleblowers, make it that much more difficult for Muslims to be “profiled” as terrorists. Fortunately some people are standing up for our right to report enemy activity within our borders.

Michelle Malkin has a manifesto we should all be reading:

Dear Muslim Terrorist Plotter/Planner/Funder/Enabler/Apologist,

You do not know me. But I am on the lookout for you. You are my enemy. And I am yours.

I am John Doe.

I am traveling on your plane. I am riding on your train. I am at your bus stop. I am on your street. I am in your subway car. I am on your lift.

I am your neighbor. I am your customer. I am your classmate. I am your boss.

I am John Doe.

I will never forget the example of the passengers of American Airlines Flight 93 who refused to sit back on 9/11 and let themselves be murdered in the name of Islam without a fight.

I will never forget the passengers and crew members who tackled al Qaeda shoe-bomber Richard Reid on American Airlines Flight 63 before he had a chance to blow up the plane over the Atlantic Ocean.

I will never forget the alertness of actor James Woods, who notified a stewardess that several Arab men sitting in his first-class cabin on an August 2001 flight were behaving strangely. The men turned out to be 9/11 hijackers on a test run.

I will act when homeland security officials ask me to “report suspicious activity.”

I will embrace my local police department’s admonition: “If you see something, say something.”

I am John Doe.

I will protest your Jew-hating, America-bashing “scholars.”

I will petition against your hate-mongering mosque leaders.

I will raise my voice against your subjugation of women and religious minorities.

I will challenge your attempts to indoctrinate my children in our schools.

I will combat your violent propaganda on the Internet.

I am John Doe.

I will support law enforcement initiatives to spy on your operatives, cut off your funding, and disrupt your murderous conspiracies.

I will oppose all attempts to undermine our borders and immigration laws.

I will resist the imposition of sharia principles and sharia law in my taxi cab, my restaurant, my community pool, the halls of Congress, our national monuments, the radio and television airwaves, and all public spaces.

I will not be censored in the name of tolerance.

I will not be cowed by your Beltway lobbying groups in moderate clothing. I will not cringe when you shriek about “profiling” or “Islamophobia.”

I will put my family’s safety above sensitivity. I will put my country above multiculturalism.

I will not submit to your will. I will not be intimidated.

I am John Doe.

What a Way To Go

The latest victims in the Palestinian struggle against the Jews were drowned in filth after an overburdened septic system burst and flooded a village with liquid waste.

The deluge, triggered by the collapse of a septic system aid organisations had long warned was dangerously overburdened, submerged dozens of homes in the Bedouin farming village of Umm al-Nasr beneath a cesspool of foul-smelling effluent.

Two women, one more than 70 years old, and two toddlers aged one and two died in the flood. Fifteen people were injured and scores more are still missing, according to Palestinian medics.

Village children clung to wooden doors floating on the putrid waters as rescuers used boats to help the victims.

“The situation is very bad,” village mayor Ziad Abu Thabet said, comparing the disaster to a “tsunami.” “Around 70 percent of the village houses were flooded by the waters,” he said.

We can only expect the situation to worsen as disease and infection start to spread from the waste explosion.

This may have been avoided had the Palestinians spent money on improvements to archaic infrastructure instead of rockets they can fire into Israel. But the politics of hate are seldom rational.
