Mel Gibson showed up at a sci-fi convention to promote Apocalypto, his latest feature film. Here’s a bit from the story:
In describing its portrait of a civilization in decline, Gibson said, “The precursors to a civilization that’s going under are the same, time and time again,” drawing parallels between the Mayan civilization on the brink of collapse and America’s present situation. “What’s human sacrifice,” he asked, “if not sending guys off to Iraq for no reason?”
Well, I have argued that indeed there is a reason for a continued presence in Iraq, and why invading Iraq was a good idea, WMDs or no.
But Drudge has this up in big bold letters on his website. Well, this isn’t the first time Gibson has railed against the war. It probably won’t be the last. If he’s following the Vatican line, which is possible, then it makes perfect sense Gibson would be against the war.
I’m not sure why it’s such big news. If you want some big news that wasn’t reported, check out the Jawa Report.
