So, we’re very close to November and election day! Hurrah! Almost time for Democrats to take over Congress. Let’s check their platform:
1) Republicans are corrupt.
According to the DNC website:
We will end the Republican culture of corruption and restore a government as good as the people it serves, starting with real ethics reform.
And there have been no corrupt Democrats? That’s funny. Ethics reform. How do you ensure there will be no reform? Elect people to make rules telling them what they can and cannot do. That’s like telling me to come up with a diet plan to lose weight, and when I do, I include that Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays are “Ho-Ho Fiesta” days. It’ll never work.
Politicians are, for the most part, corrupt. It’s a fact of life. Democrat/Republican– somebody’s taking money from someone else.
2) They’re child molesters, too.
3) They’re policies have hurt the economy.
If you want to see how bad the economy is, ask George Will.
4) Iraq is a disaster. Best we pull out of that disaster and leave a big mess.
Oddly, the DNC website says the following as a platform initiative:
Democrats have a plan that is comprehensive– from repairing our military, to winning the war on terror, to protecting our homeland security, to ensuring success in Iraq and freeing America of its dependence on foreign oil–and it will finally prepare America for the security needs of the 21st Century. And we honor the sacrifices our troops, their families and veterans by making sure we take care of them when they come home.
Sounds good, right? (bold part my emphasis) Let’s look at the articles on their webpage.
Article 1: Coalition troops are dying. Best we pull out! Oh, and Democrats have a “tough and smart” policy on Iraq. Would you like to know what it is? Tough! We’re smarter than you!
Article 2: British troop commander wants “out”.
Article 3: It’s a quagmire.
This sound like they’re all for ensuring success in Iraq, or exploiting the tragedies in Iraq for political gain?
Here’s something I agree with the Democrats on, simply from a “supply & demand” standpoint. More fuel-efficient vehicles and engines will reduce demand, and the fuel price will go. Getting out of OPEC will hurt revenues for Islamic nations as well as Hugo Chavez. He won’t be able to buy as many Noam Chomsky books as he wants.
As for Global Warming… that’s allegorical.
6) Kill the babies for research! And health care for those that survive!
According to the site:
We will join 36 other industrialized nations in making sure everyone has access to affordable health care, starting by fixing the prescription drug program and investing in stem cell and other medical research.
Those other 36? Socialist states. Bear in mind that letting the government run things always turns out SO well. HMOs are a terror of paperwork as it is. Think it’ll get better when the Gov’t is in charge? And, where do you think the funds for that will come from? That’s right– you.
7) Prevent social security accounts from making money!
Of course, you can’t be a political party without passing a bone to the AARP.
We will ensure that a retirement with dignity is the right and expectation of every single American, starting with pension reform, expanding saving incentives and preventing the privatization of social security.
See that at the top? Entitlement. Everyone gets a good retirement! Just ask Germany how well that’s going. As for privatization– imagine what could be done with your pension if you put it into the worlds most active and productive economic machine– the US Economy. Holding it in an interest-free “lockbox” is silly. Why not just send an FBI agent to take someone to a field once a month and bury some money?
8) A healthy environment for all!
I believe in recycling. Why wouldn’t I? But remember what “healthy environment” really means– Kyoto. And know that that would badly damage the US economy and recovery, at the same time would allow developing economies to steal our thunder.
9) We promise to keep black people in ghettos!
I think it’s time we drop the pretending– social policies regarding minorities have done nothing to help minorities. Can we apply Civil Rights without making it Civil Welfare?
10) Election reform.
The DNC is the party of Chicago Mayor Richard Daly, who fixed every single election. Never have the dead voted in greater numbers. Now, they do it from Indian reservations. We’re supposed to think the DNC is really interested in election reform?
The only thing they want to reform is the Electoral College.
So, there’s the lame platform of the DNC. It’s not much better than that of the GOP. So the question boils down to, which corruption do you hate more? Then vote for the other guys.
Me? I was raised in California. I’ve still got a bad taste in my mouth from the politics of that state. So I will reluctantly support the GOP. I just wish they were real conservatives.
