In a new book coming out, Evangelical President, Bush endorses Hillary for the nomination— just the type of endorsement that’s sure to hurt her with the Nutroots.
Had he simply said, “I’ll throw my full support behind her. If anyone’s campaign platform matches mine, it’s Hillary’s,” then that would have been the stake in the heart of her campaign. The Nutroots would have gone wild. Code Pink would become Code Red with Anger. It would not have been pretty.
This isn’t as overt, but it’s certainly a calculation to “endorse” Hillary while simultaneously damaging her campaign.
Matter of fact, any endorsement by President Bush would probably be bad for anyone. He should just stay in the White House and be presidential. And endorse the Democrat front-runner.
