Been a While

Life’s still in flux here, so wanted to drop by and see how the ol’ site is doing.

I’ve been quite busy with work, personal life, and other pursuits that blogging has been on the back burner.  This upcoming year is going to be quite eventful.

I’ll try to put in some posts more often.  I’ve been fascinated with the revolution in Iran, and even more fascinated with the Obama response, such as inviting the freakin’ Iranians to a shindig at the White House on July 4th (aka, Independence Day).  Allahpundit is rightly angered about it, and it just shows what an absolute moron we elected in November.

His budgets are a disaster.

His foreign policy is a disaster.

His nominees for positions are tax-laden disasters.

And all the while, the mainstream press in this country has been more than happy to kiss his ring.  How many covers of Time has he graced?  17?  Including his wife?  And ABC holds a health-care presser from the White House without any sort of rebuttal?  Even through paid ads?  And Obama has the gaul to insult Fox news?

Wake up, people.  Obama’s going to be big-time trouble.

    Right on Doc.

Obama hates Democracy which is why he hesitated to criticize the Iranian government. He is terrified at the prospect of another Democracy in the Middle East. The Iranis want what the Iraqis now have thanks to the efforts of George W. Bush. Don’t underestimate Obama and don’t believe anything he says. React only to his actions which are hideous in their implications. He has no redeeming qualities. He is bad news for this country. It is imperative that the Republicans regain control of both houses of Congress as soon as possible. The only question is the will of the American electorate which seems to me not what it once was. We have become a nation of cynical moral and ethical degenerates just as have so many civilzations before us. Every nation that has rejected God has suffered the same fate – oblivion. Obama is the perfect Anti-Christ. He has no respect for human life and the rule of law. He defies everything this once great nation represents.

The beauty of what you’re doing, John, is that the more people like you spew deluded, uninformed, paranoid, fearmongering hate-speech like this, the more normal, rational people start to see the right-wing as a bunch of maniacal religious extremists who won’t be satisfied until we’re at war with every country that isn’t run by Christian fundamentalists. You see, when you use words like “anti-Christ” without a trace of irony, most people just assume that you’re a nutcase. And it’s entirely possible that they have a point.

      So keep it up.

I dunno. I suppose you could always go over there and kill hundreds of thousands of innocent people in an effort to restore democracy.

Except of course that Bush spent all the money on the last war.

Hey, maybe if Bush had made more of an effort to establish international relations with the moderate Mohammad Khatami when he was in charge, Iran wouldn’t be in such a bad situation now. Maybe Ahmadinejad wouldn’t even have come to power.

But nooooo. Bush stayed hostile. Then Ahmadinejad got in in 2005, and now there’s a massive crisis, and Obama knows that lending American support to Iranian dissidents will only take away their credibility and make the government treat them even more harshly.

So all of this is clearly Obama’s fault. And inviting a diplomatic approach in an effort to limit damage and casualties must be a sign of weakness. It’s crazy, trying to solve a problem without dropping bombs or giving tax-cuts to the rich. What is he thinking?

I have every intention of keeping it up and I am most certainly not a fundamentalist. I am a Roman Catholic and a scientist.

suckonthis is an anonymous coward and a congenital ultraliberal blowhard. Internet blogs teem with such trash. They contribute nothing of value wherever they surface.

Bush accomplished what many thought was impossible. He established a Democracy in the heart of Islam. He will be remembered for that alone as one of our greatest presidents. That is the primary reason Obama hates Bush. Obama hates Democracy wherever it is found. He fears it like the plague. Obama is no better than Chavez or Putin, a power crazed tyrant.

I recommend “Born That Way” by William Wright for aptly self
    named suckonthis.

Hey John. I already told you my name. We already established that all you gotta do is ask. You remember? When you showed up on my blog after I pointed out your lies and hypocrisy about your comments policy? Remember that? Want me to link to it so people can see?

Congenital is a bit of a leap. You’ve never met my parents. Also, it’s just “liberal”. No “ultra” about it. I don’t represent an extreme of left-wing thinking.

Tell the one about Bush again. The one where he’ll be remembered as one of the greatest Presidents. That’s hilarious. Seriously, do you actually inhabit a parallel dimension?

      Anyway, catch you later.

Thousands of people were already dying in Iraq. During 11 years of seige, Saddam built a highway over a mass grave, he wiped out whole villages, attempted genocide twice, etc. His sons were serial rapists. One son used his Olympic Committee as the front for his torture factory. I’m supposed to be sorry they are gone?
Sad fact is that Iraquis were/are killing Iraquis. Who would have expected car bombing a market would be considered a form of political protest? Foreign terrorits have come in. That is bad.

As for Iran, the Revolutionary Council holds all the power. I’m not sure a reasonable approach works with fanatics. That’s kind of the whole point of a being a fanatic. It would be nice if what you said came true.

      June 25, 2009 at 3:48 pm

“I’m supposed to be sorry they are gone?”

Not at all. I don’t have an issue with the fact that Saddam was dethroned. I just have an issue with the way it was done.

“It would be nice if what you said came true.”

It would be. The problem is that at this point Ahmadinejad and co. would perceive anything that Obama said in condemnation of the situation as a provocation, and they would make their own people suffer more for it. Obama obviously doesn’t approve of what they’re doing, but the only other option would be military action. Thet’s just not possible under the current circumstances.

So the hands-off approach is the one that makes the best sense – and in the interim it doesn’t make sense to sever all diplomatic ties with Iran, because it would be unreasonable to cut off any possibility of a diplomatic resolution. Of course you’re probably right and ultimately fanaticism will be the barrier to compromise, but that’s not a good enough reason for Obama to risk making things worse just because the Republicans might call him a pussy if he doesn’t.

Obama is not a pussy. Quite the contrary, he is a fanatic, dedicated to the destruction of the USA by converting it to the USSA. He is the only truly dangerous person ever to occupy the White House. He has no respect for human life or the rule of law, constiututional or biblical. A nation which abandons God is doomed to oblivion. To destroy our nation is his only goal.

Absolutely, you think he’s a Bond villain. Suuure. Six months from now he’ll have you all in Socialist re-education camps learning Marx and swearing alliegance to Mussolini, and then you’ll all be sent to work in nationalised car manufactuing/baby slaughtering plants. When you’re not praying to Allah at gunpoint, that is.

      Seriously, listen to yourself.

Right on aptly named suckonthis. That is exactly what he has in mind. He has already nationalized the car industry and our financial institutions. The next election cycle will put him out of business. He is bad news.

        What say others?

SOT “Not at all. I don’t have an issue with the fact that Saddam was dethroned. I just have an issue with the way it was done.”
    -Hind sight’s 20-20.

I see an Iran govt. that will take anything we do and make it bad, like North Korea. We’ve sanctioned these guys as much as we can.

What I am concerned about is more of Hungary and Chechslovakia (sp?) scenario, where people try to throw off the yoke, the West ignores their pleas, and then they distrust the West ever after things normalize.

Oh, and see John D. using your nickname more like what I was talking about. =)

      June 26, 2009 at 8:34 am

Sure, hindsight is 20/20. But there were a lot of people who opposed the war in the first place, because they predicted exactly what would happen. Bush’s problem was not that he weighed up all his options and then decided that war would be the best course of action. His problem was that he decided to go to war and then ignored anyone who told him why it wasn’t a good idea. I can give you a pretty long list of people who told him what he shouldn’t do and why he shouldn’t do it, and he did it all anyway, and it backfired in exactly the way they said it would.

As Reza Aslan put it yesterday, the current Iranian situation has nothing to do with the US. the US has no influence in Iran one way or the other. Even the Iranian dissidents are not pro-US. The only constructive thing that the US can do is provide support to the EU and the UN, because those people still have some swing in the matter. The more the US tries to directly interfere, the worse the situation will get, and the more Iranians will hate America, which would mean a higher threat to US national security. You’d think that Republicans would be pleased that Obama considers US national security to be a high priority, but apparently all they’re interested in is the fact that he’s not threatening Ahmadinejad.

It’s funny you should mention Hungary, Slovakia and the Czech Republic. All three were left to determine their own futures after the fall of the Iron Curtain, with minimal intervention from superpowers, and all three are now NATO members and have joined the European Union. Hardly a manifestation of distrust of the West. I’ve been to all three recently and they’re extremely pro-West.

And John D. is, let’s face it, a few sandwiches short of a picnic.

John A. Davison at least has the common courtesy to use his real name, something suckonthis will never do because suckonthis is a born to lose loser of the P.Z. Myers, Richard Dawkins variety. They too have abandoned God, guaranteeing that they will be nothing but footnotes in the history of intellectual progress. A Godless world is an evil world and anyone who can support Obama is an evil person who, like Obama, also has no respect for life or the rule of law. Know thyself suckonthis and enjoy yourself if you get my drift.

“John A. Davison at least has the common courtesy to use his real name, something suckonthis will never do ”

Are you blind, or senile, or merely an idiot? I already told you my real name, as I will tell it to anyone who asks me. I know you saw it, because you answered the comment. Is that your intellectual process then? Just flatly deny anything that contradicts your microscopic preconceptions? Onwards intellectual progress…

I didn’t abandon God, I never believed in God in the first place and continue to not believe in God because God is a largely pointless idea that at best provides a spiritual placebo for people and at worst makes them into psychotic bigots like you. God, to put it bluntly, is not my problem.

And what’s with the “enjoy yourself if you get my drift” stuff? Is that supposed to worry me? Is that a kind of “you’ll surely burn in Hell” thing? Is that your “drift”?

Seriously dude, and I mean this from the bottom of my heart, get some professional help. It’s not healthy for someone to be so obviously paranoid and deluded.

Why should I believe anything that any anonymous user has to say? Why should one have to ask? What are you ashamed of?

By enjoy yourself I meant for you to touch yourself until you stain yourself.

To make you feel better about me, please go to P.Z.”godless liberal, random biological ejaculating” Meyers’ Pharyngula forum and click on the “Dungeon” button. There you will find me as one of the charter members of his “kill file,” my crowning achievement in the world of cyberdumb. I’ll bet you are one of his loyal fans.

It doesn’t get any better than this.

    I love it so!

“Why should I believe anything that any anonymous user has to say? Why should one have to ask? What are you ashamed of?”

Since I already told you my name and will freely give out that information, I am not anonymous. What is it about this that you aren’t understanding? It’s really pretty clear.

“By enjoy yourself I meant for you to touch yourself until you stain yourself.”

That’s a frankly bizarre and creepy statement.

“To make you feel better about me, please go to P.Z.”godless liberal, random biological ejaculating” Meyers’ Pharyngula forum and click on the “Dungeon” button. Yeah, I get it, you’re incredibly paranoid. And no, since you mention it, never heard of him. But I can kind of see why he thinks you’re a weirdo.

“It doesn’t get any better than this.

    I love it so!”

It doesn’t get any better than telling people to masturbate?

    Like I said, get help.

Thanks for repeating my comments. Any publicity is good publicity.

I don’t need help. I am a scientist. I offer help to receptive minds. Obviously, yours is not one of them.

By the way, I lost your real name somehow. Why don’t you tell everyone here who you really are and what you do for a living. I am sure they would all like to know. I’ll bet you won’t do it.
