Al Gore: Earth’s Core Is a Few Million Degrees C

The all-around GENIUS Nobel Laureate who’s been touting geothermal energy tells Conan the planetary core temperature of earth is “several million degrees“:

Conan:   Now, what about … you talk in the book about geothermal energy …
Al:   Yeah, yeah.
Conan:     and that is, as I understand it, using the heat that’s generated from the core of the earth …
Al:   Yeah.
Conan:   … to create energy, and it sounds to me like an evil plan by Lex Luthor to defeat Superman. Can you, can you tell me, is this a viable solution, geothermal energy?
Al:   It definitely is, and it’s a relatively new one. People think about geothermal energy — when they think about it at all — in terms of the hot water bubbling up in some places, but two kilometers or so down in most places there are these incredibly hot rocks, ’cause the interior of the earth is extremely hot, several million degrees, and the crust of the earth is hot …

The CORE is several million degrees!?  Quick, call Hillary Swank!

The SUN has a core temperature of a few million Kelvins.  The Earth’s core is estimated to be about 6000-7000 K.  You’d think he’d know this, being an expert on renewable energy and all that.  Unless he’s just a political hack making things up as he goes along to push his fantasy of imminent destruction by CO2.

Geothermal is not new. Iceland’s been using it for decades.

Al is such a disappointment. here’s a little post I wrote sort of about him a year or so ago:

Unfortunately, there are many like you that are uneducated enough to actually think that carbon dioxide is a pollutant. Nothing could be further from the truth, and this would be a lifeless planet without CO2. Perhaps you remember from General Science that vegetation “breathes” carbon dioxide and emits oxygen? CO2 is NOT air pollution. We are talking about a gas that makes up less than .04% of our atmosphere, and has increased about 25% in the last 150 years, That’s what all the fuss is about with global warming, an increase in atmospheric CO2 of about 80 parts-per MILLION in 150 years! If Al Gore were sitting in front of you with a stack of ten-thousand 100 dollar bills representing our entire atmosphere, one single bill would represent more than the overall CO2 increase in our atmosphere in the past 150 years. Trivial, isn’t it? Oxygen would be represented by about 2,100 $100 bills and nitrogen by about 7,800 $100 bills.

Has anyone else seen the emails from the University of East Anglia showing massive global warming data fraud.
Scientists would never manipulate data to keep their funds coming.

I’ve been sitting on this for a few days, just to see what shakes out of the tree. I’ll be posting something soon on the whole matter, because the seriousness of this matter is not to be overlooked. It’s more than just data manipulation for funding. It’s perversion of the entire process, and it’s disgusting.

I have to give you credit, as a AGW skeptic, you’ve shown you’re definitely brighter than your conservative allies that are in a froth over this alleged email controversy. I congratulate you for not jumping on the ‘ignorance bandwagon’ … as many of these wingnuts are alleging climate data has been “dumped” or ‘hidden’ …. the childish notion that all the raw climate data in the world were in the hands of 3 corrupt scientists, and no one else in the world has access. This crap spreads among the ignorant like it has with the ‘birthers’ and ‘deathers’.

I would encourage those ‘ignorants’ to view the data.

Scientists have better things to do than debunk alleged scandals, but you may want to see the response on one scientist’s blog to this BS…

It’s fun to make fun of Al Gore, but he is obviously no scientist, just a rallying point and an unfortunate spokesperson for a cause unpopular with conservatives. Just imagine how this issue would beor GWB. Proof that this isn’t about science for most people, particularly conservatives.

You seem to have completely missed the point. The University of East Anglia’s Climatic Research Unit was major contributor to the climate report produced by the UN, who now want to impose draconian solutions on the world through the Copenhagen treaty agreement as a result. This not just the “couple of bad apples” situation, these people are central contributors to what appears to be a gigantic fraud. The minimum response has to be a completely independent investigation of this while theory, before quadrillions of dollars are committed. On personal basis, you would never entrust your money to an investment adviser who been convicted of fraud, then would you accept the research from a group scientists who have been shown to be liars.

    To Karen above:
Let me start off by disclosing that I am politically conservative on most issues as you are an obvious liberal. I’m also a licensed, professional geologist in North Carolina and I teach a college level geology course at night. I’ve worked on glacial coastal morphology in both Greenland and Iceland when I was in graduate school and I know a bit about climate. You will probably still consider me “ignorant” because I’m about to pick your post apart but don’t worry, I won’t call you any names.
First off, you should do a little research on the energy efficient Crawford ranch owned by GWB and contrast that with the unefficient mansion in Nashville owned by Gore.
Second off, I’m very familiar with realclimate.org, which you seem enthralled with. I can tell you from experience that it is nothing more than a far left “blog site” funded by Environmental Media Services(EMS). EMS is intimately linked with MoveOn.org and Al Gore. I’ve posted several blogs on realclimate myself, some of which were DELETED! I had tried to make some polite, coherent arguments but I was constantly attacked with vituperative responses so I gave up.
One of my deleted posts had to do with the Eocene epoch. I would encourge you to look at climatological data from that time, including CO2 levels caused by metamorphic rock out-gassing.
My third and last point is that Al Gore is not fun to make fun of but in my opinion, someone who tried to run with a cause due to deep guilt over how his family’s fortune was amassed. He’s not at all literate in the sciences but he’s smart enough to have made a fortune by making anthropogenic CO2 an unnecessary boogeyman.
