Weirdness from Obama on ‘Meet the Press’

First, he and David Gregory bore us to tears as we hear the same lame stuff we got from the boring speech to Congress on health care.  Gregory misses the core questions to ask, such as “How are you planning on paying for a trillion dollar program with a few billion dollars in nebulous waste reduction?”  But it’s hard to ask that question when you’ve got stars in your eyes.  (See below for the starry-eyed Gregory.)

Then Gregory moves into the charges of racism laid on Republicans by Jimmy Carter and members of the Black Congressional Caucus.  You can almost hear Obama say, “Oh, I’ll never say anything Republicans do is racist, Mr. Gregory.  That’s why Presidents have hatchet men.

But the comedy gold comes when Obama calls Pelosi “rude” and then whines about the 24 hour cable news shows:

DAVID GREGORY: In that vein, House Speaker Pelosi worried about the opposition, the tone of it, perhaps, leading to violence as it did in the 70s.  There’s more recent examples of antigovernment violence— occurring even in the mid 90s.  Do you worry about that?

PRESIDENT OBAMA: Well, look— I think that we have an obligation in Washington, as leaders, to make sure that we are sending a strong message.  That we can disagree without being disagreeable.  Without— you know, questioning each other’s motives.  When we start caricaturing the other side— I think that’s a problem.

And— unfortunately, we’ve got, as I’ve said before, a 24-hour news cycle where what gets you on the news is controversy.  What gets you on the news is the extreme statement.  The easiest way to get 15 minutes on the news, or your 15 minutes of fame, is to be rude. [Doc– I don’t think he’s talking about Pelosi, but he’s so vague here about just who he’s talking about, he could be talking about Pelosi.  Or Beck.  Or Wolf Blitzer for that matter!]

And that’s— that’s— something that I think has to change.  And it starts with me.  And I’ve tried to make sure that I’ve sent a clear signal.  And I’ve tried to maintain an approach that says, look, we can have some serious disagreements but, at the end of the day, I’m assuming that you want the best for America just like I do.

[…]Well, you know, the— I— I— I do occupy— a pretty special seat at the moment.  But— but I do think that— look I mean, let’s face it, the— if you look at the news cycle over the last— over the last week— you know, it— it— it hasn’t been the— the sensible people who, you know, very deliberately talk about the important issues that we face as a country.  [Doc– Pelosi?  Carter?]  That’s not the folks who’ve gotten a lot of coverage.

Yes, his clear signals.  Such as “I just want the guys who made the mess to get out of the way”, or telling the Repbulicans that they can just bugger off because “I won”.  As for the “sensible people”, as I say it my edits above, just who are they?

It seems to be Chris Wallace was right— the White House is full of crybabies, and it starts at the top.  “Waah, FOX has been hitting me hard lately!  But it’s because they’re a bunch of 15-minute of fame freaks!  Waaah!”

Gregory talks about Afghanistan, and Obama gives an answer where he’s going to evaluate the strategy of McChrystal and Petraeus before he sends in more troops.  Let me help you out, Mr. President:  McChrystal has already said he needs more troops.  And any dispatch from Michael Yon from Afghanistan will clearly state the need for more helicopters.  (Before the British pulled Yon’s press credentials for unknown reasons.)

Here’s a follow-up question for Gregory:  if you’re non-committal on a strategy in Afghanistan, why did we ditch missile defense in Poland for permission to use Russian airspace for a theater we’re likely to abandon?

But instead, Gregory takes Obama to a new, hard-hitting subject– the White Sox.  Seriously, nothing on ACORN in the first few questions?  No questions on exploding deficits?  No tough follow-ups on any line of questioning?  I think Gregory needs to be replaced by this woman from Extra who interviewed Tyra.

On another morning news show, Obama was asked about ACORN.  He said:

STEPHANOPOULOS: Congress said they should cut off all funding for ACORN.

OBAMA: Is — is — is…

STEPHANOPOULOS: … all funding for ACORN. Are you for that?

OBAMA: Is that true on the other side, as well? Of course that’s true.

STEPHANOPOULOS: How about the funding for ACORN?

OBAMA: You know, it’s — frankly, it’s not really something I’ve followed closely. I didn’t even know that ACORN was getting a whole lot of federal money.

Yeah, the Community Organizer of Community Organizers didn’t get a call from Bertha “I’m OK with Child Immigrant Slavery and Prostitution” Lewis saying that the mean ol’ Republicans were being awfully racist when they exposed corruption of ACORN officials all over the country (and for that matter, Joe Conason at Slate is down with Child Immigrant Slavery and Prostitution, too, but only because they register a lot of voters).  He wants to be absolutely clear– being OK with Child Immigrant Slavery and Prostitution was something ACORN started doing after he left the organization.Gregory Hearts Obama

It sure is great to see Fox News get their ass handed to them by CNN,

And see proof of the ‘fair and balanced’ network organizing, and inciting the protesters.

I don’t know about you, but after watching these teaparty videos, I say screw health care, give these poor ignorant people some education, that’s what they really need.

So, what other event that draws 70,000 people is 99.9% white? A klan rally perhaps?

One of the most significant changes of recent times has just taken place here in Vermont. Price Chopper now offers the Fox News Channel for its customers to enjoy while having their morning bagels in the newly refurbished coffee shop.

      I love it so!

That didn’t last long. They are now only showing CNN again at Price Chopper. Our Marxist Senator Bernie Saunders probably intervened or maybe it was our ex-Governor Howard Dean, another flaming, left of Lenin radical.

Stay on topic, Karen. If you want to talk, talk about what’s posted. If you want to come here and hijack threads, I’ll just start deleting the posts. I’m not going to start arguing about just anything (i.e. all the Tea Party protesters are racists).

I’ve an idea. If you want to talk about things you want to talk about, start your own blog. Or try to become a contributing member of DailyKos, TPM, Crooksandliars, or Salon.

That’s BHO’s whole gig. Be as vague as possible. It’s like nailing jello to a wall.

BTW… you can stop talking about ACORN, the smear campaign has been exposed. Typical GOP lies and smear trumped up by your favorite fair and balanced network which had it as headline story for a week. Learn something:

BTW… the “de-Fund ACORN Act” must also include defunding of “any company that’s ever filed fraudulent paperwork with any federal agency”. That would also include all of these defense contractors: Dell, Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman, General Electric, Raytheon, Blackwater Worldwide, Kellogg Brown & Root, Bank of America, IBM, Halliburton, AT&T, Hewlett-Packard Company, DynCorp International Inc., CACI International, Inc., Exxon Mobil, L-3 Communications, and many more.

That’s what your Fox News witch hunt has brought. ACORN receives pennies compared to fraud committed by defense contractors. But, if it helps you somehow discredit Obama and blacks, go for it. A very transparent movement indeed.

Smear campaign? As in the “ACORN folks are assisting in bringing children across the border to work as slave prostitutes to fund a political campaign?”

Karen, you’re defending people who WANT TO USE ILLEGAL IMMIGRANT GIRLS AS CHILD PROSTITUTE SLAVES TO SUPPORT A DEMOCRATIC POLITICIAN! You’ve lost any and all credibility by defending these disgusting people.

“ACORN folks are assisting in bringing children across the border to work as slave prostitutes to fund a political campaign?”

Using YOUR logic and methods of equivalency, you must agree with the caller who phoned an ACORN office and said that “Obama is a nigger and needs to get hung… all the niggers need to be hung from oaks” http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uXh3elLDOOc

Why do you support this way of thinking? Why do support the lynching of “niggers”?

What are you talking about? Did the ACORN workers actually assist this guy in trying to lynch “niggers” (your words, not mine)? Evidently not. But they were certainly willing to help a pimp and prostitute import 10 illegal alien hookers.

What’s amusing is you throwing around the word “logic” here. If there’s one word you shouldn’t be using, Karen, it’s logic, as your posts are clearly devoid of it. Not surprising, really, as you constantly drift off topic and march to the orders of TPM.

BTW, I don’t watch FOX news. I make my own opinions. And watching those videos pretty much convinced me ACORN is a soulless, evil organization. And those who defend them are soulless, evil people, incapable of seeing such a foul and nauseating display.

convinced me ACORN is a soulless, evil organization. And those who defend them are soulless, evil people, incapable of seeing such a foul and nauseating display.

Based on the actions of a few people in a set up video?

Based on opinions of people I’ve heard that connect Obama, Acorn and “lynching niggers” (your people’s word), I must conclude you must think it appropriate to hang black people associated with ACORN, your logic, not mine. That conclusion is exatly comparable to you saying: “ACORN is a soulless, evil organization”

How about KBR are they souless evil organization? How do they compare with ACORN? Why did’t you mention KBR? KBR gave $83 million in bonuses for contracts to install electrical wiring in Iraq. The award payments were for the very work that resulted in the electrocution deaths of at least NINE US soldiers. I don’t see this organization defunded. (Based on your logic), why you think it’s fine for soldiers to be electrocuted to death while the companies profit hugely? See what I’m getting at?

Based on the actions of a few people in a set up video?

No, based upon the actions of ACORN employees in 5 different locations, all helping two people who clearly have criminal intentions.

And, of course, rather than see the pattern of behavior here, you try to smear me as a racist through statements I’ve never said nor endorsed.

Karen, you’re reasoning is entirely faulty. Let me illustrate.

Me: ACORN reps in five different cities, so far, have conspired to help two people claiming to be pimp and prostitute, who want to bring illegal, underage immigrant girls to the US to set up a brothel to support a political campaign. One city would be an aberration, two a coincidence, but 5 cities? Logic suggests that this pattern of behavior is systematic of the organization as a whole. Had ACORN reps in those 5 cities tossed these two out on their ears, this would be a non-story (and would probably have elevated my opinion of ACORN). Instead, the ACORN employees bent over backwards to assist them, telling them how to avoid paying taxes and offering to help ship the underage girls across the border. Logic suggests ACORN’s problems are systematic, not isolated.

You: I heard some people say that the ACORN volunteers and President Obama should be lynched. As you are Republican, you must be a racist and agree with these people.

By your faulty reasoning Karen (and I’m being kind using the word “faulty”), any Republican is a “lynching” racist. But all that’s required to stop being a “lynching” racist is to stop exposing criminal organizations like ACORN and vote Democrat.

And, FYI, I’ve never seen a video where a pimp and prostitute walked into a KBR office and asked for housing assistance for their illegal, underage prostitution ring.

      Apples and Oranges, Karen.

    Re: Acorn
Then there are the 8 Board members that wanted an independent audit and were forced out last year. (source NPR) They have a lot of interesting things to say about the hijacking of their cause, and they were founders.
Then there is the embezzling by their CEO.
